Google has been a life saver throughout this process. We wouldn't have known that the cut side of a potato needs to be facing down. Nor would we have known that potatoes have specific companion plants such as corn and does not grow well near certain other plants. There is a great list of companion planting that can be found at Golden Harvest Organics which has earned a spot in my bookmarks.

| Mole trap |
Have you had to use the mole trap?! I cleared a spot in between some trees to hopefully have a flower container, and a couple days later there was a dead mole there! I don't know if he accidentally came out from under ground, or is something killed him on his adventure, but it was really gross to see him with his sprawled fingers. Blech!
ReplyDeleteThere's a mole who has tunneled under the spinach and near the edge of the garden. We've set the trap up but haven't caught him yet. Our dogs used to catch them when I was a kid and they are pretty gross looking creatures!
ReplyDeleteHi Bumgardners! Mama Shaw knows about the potatocut-side-down planting technique... and about companion planting. Also... you know not to plant your 'taters next to your onions, right? ... It make their eyes water! :)
